You have lost our respect and sympathy — Nigerians tell Gov Zulum for saying Buhari has improved security
The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Zulum, has come under attack by Nigerians for saying security has improved under President Muhammadu Buhari despite recent killings of over 78 rice farmers in the state by Boko Haram.
In a statement released by the Borno State Government on Monday titled ‘Zulum: Despite killings, statewide records show Buhari did better in Borno’.
The statement quoted Zulum as saying, “From statewide statistics on affairs in the 27 local government areas since 2011, the fact is that despite the recent happenings in Borno State, the security situation in Borno State and indeed that of the entire North- East sub-region is still far better under Buhari, and this is based on records.
“For instance, unlike the years before Buhari when a number of local government were no – go – areas, we now have citizens led by our traditional rulers, safely back to Bama, Gwoza, Askira – Uba, Dikwa, Ngala, Monguno, Kukawa, Damboa, Konduga, Mafa, all of which no one could visit not talk of living there. Our emirs were all in exile. Today, Bama is coming back to life and so are Askira – Uba, Damboa, Gwoza, and others. Life is even returning go Baga. This was impossible before Buhari.
“In fact, it was not possible to move a few kilometers out of Maiduguri. Insurgents were so bold to attack and take over military facilities like the army barrack at Monguno, Bama, Giwa Barrack, and Multinational Joint Task Force Headquarters at Baga to mention just a few.
“There were daily attacks bomb blasts in many parts of Maiduguri, the most populated part of the state but all of these have stopped under Buhari. These are the records and no one can dispute these records,” Zulum stated.
But his statement did not go down well with Nigerians as they took to social media to express their displeasure.
Below are some of their reactions:
Dele Adeosun: “This Zulum seems not to be what we thought he is. Despite escaping death about three times, and wasting the lives of many police officers around him in the process, something that never happened to the previous occupiers of the office, he still has the gut to say this rubbish. These people are the real enemy of the north.”
Orokanwan Laniyan: “Thunder fire you there. She is because those Boko Haram that attacked you didn’t get to you that is why you have the mouth to utter this rubbish. You rely on the security paid for by the taxpayer monies, that is why u r lucky to still be alive. The common man who pays for your protection is left at the mercy of BH. Be careful, you may not be so lucky the next time BH launches an attack on you, then we will know if the security of Borno state under Buhari has improved.”
Mohammed Mohammed: “That means no cause to worry. Thank U for the information, we promised to be less worry for U and other inhabitants of the state.”
Somaz Odokoh: “How can you be saying this when you are planning to hire Cameronian military and other Machinery. Let us be sincere for once”
Joseph Hope Adams: “OK ooo! Then stop seeking for mercenaries help.”
Moshood Mojeed Adebanji: Because you have received the award for best governor of the year, you have started talking rubbish”
Atuluku Achile Alfred: “Despite you being attacked up to 3 times? You could also tell us no more attacks in Borno state.”
Toni Ifebunandu: “Why is this man speaking from both sides of the mouth. I am a bit surprised and confused but let us wait and see because it looks like there is a remote behind the scene.”
Olalekan Hassan: “It has really improved, especially in the north and that is why the commander in thief Buhari can’t go vacation in his home state Katsina instead he chose the UK. Useless government”
Her Excellency: “He’s simply saying that they all belong to one club. Don’t be deceived by his kind act. They are all the same. He’s only showing public display of affection.”
Adebayo Oyenusi Silvester: “Okay I think to say this one head correct before, but since the security of your state has been improved, enjoy it in good fate and we must not hear any news from that angle till 2023”
