The Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Cross River State, Comrade Ben Ukpebi, has refuted hearsay that the Division of State Companies (DSS) arrested him on Tuesday over the continuing industrial motion within the state.

He mentioned that he couldn’t honour the DSS invitation as a result of it was the primary day of the employees’ strike and he wanted to successfully mobilise them.

“It’s true that DSS invited me to their workplace for a chunk of recommendation, which is regular. It’s not uncommon for such invitation to return from the commissioner of police within the state or the DSS in occasions like these. They weren’t going to detain me or one thing of the kind,” Ukpebi advised DAILY POST.

The NLC boss mentioned it was not true that they held a proper assembly with the state authorities over the strike however will do this if they’re prepared.
