After the expiration of the one-month warning strike they launched into in February, the union introduced one other eight-week strike earlier than it will definitely commenced its indefinite strike.
The continued strike led to the imposition of No-Work-No-Pay by the Federal Authorities. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, stated the directive was in compliance with Part 43 of the Labour Regulation.

Our members are notably applauded for maintaining religion with the union regardless of the hardship imposed on our households because of the stoppage of salaries. They’ve made the assertion loud and clear that we’re not beggars and, because of this, starvation is an impotent instrument to interrupt our resolve.
Our cast-iron resolve has pressured the federal government to sit down down and negotiate with us. We’ve got had 5 conferences with the Federal Authorities staff and two conferences with the Minister of Schooling. The renegotiation of the 2009 ASUU-FGN settlement is progressing easily and has reached a complicated stage.
Nevertheless, we should stay targeted to the tip of this wrestle. UTAS (College Transparency and Accountability Answer) has been examined for the third time. To date, NITDA (Nationwide Info Know-how Growth Company) has examined UTAS and UPS and can begin testing IPPIS subsequent week. We’re undeterred by the antics of some authorities officers on this respect.
We’re on the edge of victory. Allow us to hold religion with the union. A folks united can by no means be defeated.”
