US Coast Guard begins training with Nigerian Navy




Twenty-four officers of the Nigerian Navy are taking part in a four-week intensive United States Coast Guard Boarding Officer coaching.

The programme, which kicked off on Monday, August 30, is being attended by six trainers from the Coast Guard Coaching Heart in Yorktown, Virginia.

The American personnel are in Lagos to guide the capability builder to strengthen maritime legislation enforcement capabilities in Nigerian waters, notably within the Gulf of Guinea.

Sponsored by the U.S. Africa Command, the coaching will discover methods and procedures for maritime legislation enforcement at-sea in a secure {and professional} method.

A press release by the Embassy in Nigeria mentioned it’ll spotlight more difficult situations and techniques in using pressure, proof processing, arrest procedures, and perseverance.

The individuals will discover countering illicit maritime actions corresponding to unlawful, unreported, and unregulated fishing.
