Ugandan President, Museveni sworn in for sixth term

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and 11 heads of state, on Wednesday, attended the inauguration of Ugandan President, Yoweri Museveni.

Museveni was inaugurated for his sixth time period. The occasion was held on the Independence Grounds in Kampala, the capital.

The occasion featured parades, inspection of guards, flypast, Ugandan Particular Forces show, cultural show, amongst others.

The Presidents of Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, Guinea, Conakry, South Sudan, Namibia, Ghana, Somalia, Zimbabwe, Burundi, Tanzania and Ethiopia attended.

There have been representatives from Sudan, Gabon, South Africa, Equatorial Guinea, Angola, Mozambique, Saharawi Republic, Algeria, Russia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Rwanda, China, Egypt, Zambia, Sri Lanka and Malawi.

The Chairperson of the African Union Fee, Moussa Faki and Peter Makhuki, Secretary-Common, East African Neighborhood, have been current.

Museveni stated financial and political integration in Africa have been pivotal for the prosperity and safety of the continent.

In January 2021, the President, 76, was declared winner forward of essential challenger, Bobi Wine.

The 76-year-old has been in energy since 1986. He gained presidential election with 59 % of the vote; Wine polled 35 %.

Wine, actual identify Robert Kyagulanyi, has been largely below arrest. The music star-turned-legislator accuses the authorities of abusing his proper of freedom.

After the election, the Uganda authorities blocked United States Ambassador Natalie Brown from visiting Wine.
