Sunday Igboho: Ooni of Ife constitutes committee, rallies Yoruba leaders

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enita Ogunwusi, has constituted a 28-man committee to brainstorm on the problems surrounding the arrest of Sunday Adeyemo also referred to as Sunday Igboho.

DAILY POST remembers that Igboho has been on the forefront of agitation for self-independence for Yoruba ethnic group in the previous few months.

Our correspondent gathered that Igboho was arrested by Interpol in Cotonou, Benin Republic on Tuesday.

The Ooni of Ile-Ife who is among the first-class monarchs within the South-West Nigeria has, nevertheless, arrange a committee to look into the matter.

The committee is made up of distinguished South West leaders.

Co-ordinator of the commitee is Professor Akin Osuntokun.

Different members of the committee embrace; Oba Olusola Alao, the Olugbon of Igbon, Senator Biodun Olujimi, Toyin Saraki, Segun Awolowo, Doyin Okupe, Chief Gbenga Daniel and Mr Muyiwa Ige.

Sources on the palace of the monarch confirmed the structure of the committee to DAILY POST on Thursday.

“The Ooni of Ife inaugurated an advisory council comprising eminent Yoruba little kids throughout the political spectrum. It’s known as the Ooni Caucus.

“The inauguration ceremony had been scheduled over a month in the past and it’s simply an accident that it coincided with stories of Sunday Igboho’s arrest in Cotonou.

“Nonetheless, the council is actively within the new improvement and would appropriately reply within the nearest future.”
