A soldier has allegedly killed a watermelon vendor alongside Zamfara-Sokoto bypass Highway, Gusau.

An eyewitness, who spoke to DAILY POST on the venue of the funeral prayers for the deceased, stated the soldier who was allegedly drunk purchased a chunk of watermelon from the vendor and refused to pay.

“Because the argument between the soldier and the deceased continued, the soldier allegedly rushed to a close-by resort, picked his gun and requested his colleague to comply with him to the scene.

In line with an eyewitness account, when he received there, he began taking pictures sporadically and ultimately shot the watermelon vendor to dying.

Residents of the world who weren’t proud of the motion of the soldier tried to lynch him, however he escaped to his resort room.

Investigation carried out by DAILY POST revealed that the scenario induced panic as residents insisted on burning down the resort the place the soldier was hiding earlier than armed police males intervened and whisked him away to an unknown vacation spot.

As of the time of the funeral for the deceased, our correspondent gathered that the soldier was within the custody of the police whereas thorough investigation had commenced.

When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Shehu Mohammad confirmed the incident and warranted that investigation was ongoing in regards to the matter.

SP Shehu famous that the accused soldier could be arraigned within the courtroom of competent jurisdiction.

He referred to as on the relations of the deceased to stay calm and legislation abiding as justice would certainly prevail.
