Security: Gov. Ugwuanyi gives council chairmen, councilors relocation order




Dedicated to making sure ample safety of lives and property of residents of Enugu State, in view of the rising safety state of affairs within the nation, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi has directed all Chairmen of the 17 native authorities areas of the state, their deputies and the 260 elected Councilors “to instantly and completely relocate to their respective native authorities areas and wards”.


The directive, in line with an announcement by the Commissioner for Info, Nnanyelugo Chidi Aroh, was a part of the result of Gov. Ugwuanyi’s session with related stakeholders within the state on safety, which commenced on Wednesday.

Aroh disclosed that the governor, yesterday, consequently held session with the Speaker of the Enugu State Home of Meeting, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi and different members of the Home; members of the State Govt Council; Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of all of the 17 native authorities areas; and the elected Councilors within the 260 electoral wards within the state.

The Info Commissioner added that “the Native Authorities Council Chairmen and Councilors have been additionally directed to, as a matter of urgency, convene a stakeholders’ assembly on safety of their native authorities areas and wards, respectively”.

He revealed that the governor, on the assembly, “introduced his determination to begin visits to communities and areas recognized as flashpoints, in addition to periodic city corridor conferences, in several areas of the state, to interface straight with NDI-ENUGU on the rising safety state of affairs”.
