Pope Francis has appointed Monsignor David Ajang of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos because the second Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Lafia.
Monsignor Cletus Gotan, the Vicar-Normal of the Archdiocese of Jos, confirmed the event to the Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Jos.
Based on Gotan, the Pope introduced the appointment on Wednesday.
He stated that preparations for the set up of the brand new bishop would start quickly.
Ajang was ordained a priest of the Catholic Archdiocese of Jos in December 1994.
The 51-year-old replaces Archbishop Matthew Audu, the primary bishop of Lafia diocese.
Audu is at present the chief shepherd of the Metropolitan Sea of Jos.
