Police confirms killing of Gov Ortom’s security aide




The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed the killing of the Senior Particular Assistant to the Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom on Safety, AIG Christopher Dega (Rtd) by gunmen.


DAILY POST had reported that the governor’s aide was murdered by unknown gunmen in Jos, the Plateau State Capital.

The affirmation was contained in an announcement issued and made out there to DAILY POST on Wednesday by the Plateau State’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ubah Gabriel Obaba.

In line with the PPRO, the command has arrested some suspects in reference to the crime.

“On 31/05/2021 at about 2030hrs, AIG Christopher Dega (Rtd) was shot lifeless by three yet-to-be-identified gunmen in an remoted restaurant at Bukuru, Jos.

“From the investigation to this point, it appeared that he was trailed and shot.

“He arrived at Jos from Makurdi on the identical date at about 1930hrs.

“Some suspects have been arrested. In the meantime, the investigation is ongoing.”

Equally, when contacted, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Samuel Ortom confirmed the unlucky incident.
