An official of the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps who shot lifeless a industrial bus driver in Port Harcourt on Tuesday has been arrested.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, confirmed the arrest of the civil defence officer whereas briefing journalists on Thursday on the state police command.
CP Eboka disclosed that the suspect is being detained on the State Prison and Investigation Division of the police command.
He assured that the police will get to the basis of the matter which led to the capturing of the industrial bus driver, which he described as “excessive”.
In line with him, “Regardless of the provocation, you have to attempt to management your self if you find yourself bearing arms. We wish to guarantee you that the civil defence man is already within the cell on the state CID cooling off.
“The witnesses have been summoned for a gathering. The case file has been compiled and we’ll get to the basis of it. I wish to guarantee everyone that the one that fired and killed any person won’t go unpunished.”
