For residents of Ondo and Ekiti States, their hopes on the deplorable Akure/Ado-Ekiti freeway had been dashed on Thursday after the Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo did not ply the street to Ekiti State capital from Akure airport.
The residents had hoped that Osinbajo may cross by the freeway to have a fill of the agonies that they had been going by each day on the street which could facilitate the reconstruction of the street.
The Vice President who landed on the Akure Airport was seen to have boarded a standby chopper which conveyed him and another high authorities officers to attend the Ekiti State Funding and Financial Summit in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
With the chopper taking between 10 to 12 minutes to fly from Akure, the Ondo State capital to Ado-Ekiti, the Akure/Ado freeway takes about half-hour drive if the freeway was in good situation.
With the dangerous state of the street, motorists and different street customers had been spending about two hours or extra on the street linking the 2 state capitals.
