Ondo: Shops, markets shut as Akure celebrates age-long festival




Enterprise actions in Akure, the Ondo State capital, have been shut down following the celebration of an age-long competition.

DAILY POST noticed that retailers and markets throughout the metropolis had been on Thursday shut to commemorate the ‘Aheregbe’ and ‘Amole’ competition within the city.

The Deji of Akure kingdom, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, acknowledged that the transfer was in step with the requirement that should be noticed for the competition.

The monarch, in an announcement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Michael Adeyeye, acknowledged that in respect of the competition “all markets and retailers in Akure might be shut on Thursday nineteenth August, 2021 and Saturday 4th September, 2021.”

The Deji’s spokesperson added that “you will need to emphasize that there shall be no buying and selling or opening of outlets below any guise on as of late.”

In accordance with him the competition won’t in any means prohibit each human and vehicular actions.

In the meantime, anybody who defies the order and opens store for enterprise can have his or her items confiscated alongside different sanctions in step with custom.
