Obi decries level of insecurity in S’East, calls for urgent intervention



Former governor of Anambra State, Mr Peter Obi, has decried the extent of insecurity within the South East Zone of Nigeria, describing it as disheartening.

Obi stated there’s a want for pressing stakeholders assembly within the South-East, to debate salient points pertaining to the latest wave of violence within the area.

The previous governor in a press launch signed by his media aide, Mr Valentine Obienyem referred to as on completely different political, spiritual, conventional leaders and different stakeholders of the South-East to return collectively and deal with the monster of insecurity at present contending with the peace of the area and unity of the Igbos.

Obi stated: “We will not sit and need away the unacceptable killings and violence raging via our area. We, Igbos, aren’t recognized for violence and disrespect for human lives and should not enable the urge for the massacre to creep in amongst us. The sit-at-home order that has persevered within the South East closely bears down on the regional financial system.


“The pressing want for stakeholders assembly is due to this fact inevitable. That is the time for each chief within the area to unite and, in unity, handle the challenges of insecurity going through us earlier than we’re all consumed.”

He reminded South Easterners that crime-fighting takes collective efforts, urging them to stay dedicated to the peace and growth of the area.

He inspired them to eschew all types of crimes and pursue productive ventures that can higher their lives and convey growth to society.
