The Financial and Monetary Crimes Fee (EFCC) has lamented that Nigerians are dropping curiosity within the whistleblowing coverage of the federal authorities regardless of the massive monetary reward connected to it.

Talking throughout a one-day city corridor assembly on strengthening the capability of stakeholders on the whistleblowing coverage held in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, govt chairman of the fee, Abdullahi Bawa, who was represented by the EFCC Director of Public Affairs, Osita Nwajah, stated there’s want for “contemporary awakening to maintain the stream of essential intelligence to the regulation enforcement businesses.”

He stated;

“Two of the landmark recoveries from whistleblowers’ info have been the $9.8m recovered from a former managing director of the Nigerian Nationwide Petroleum Company, Mr Andrew Yakubu, and the $11 million recovered at an residence in Osborne Towers, Ikoyi, Lagos.

 “This seeming lack of curiosity is troublesome to clarify provided that those that initially embraced the coverage have been rewarded.”
