Nigerian Institute of Journalism Summons Students’ Activist To Disciplinary Panel Over Social Media Comments




The Nigerian Institute of Journalism has summoned a pupil activist, Ayoola Babalola, to a disciplinary panel over allegations of “unruly conduct” and “inciting feedback” made on social media and offline.

Babalola, who can also be a journalist has a number of instances criticised the administration of the establishment over what he refers to as violation of fundamental human rights, its refusal to ship an educational system that’s in tandem with the digital age and lack of compliance with world finest practices.

Commenting on the matter, the secretary of the Take-it-Again motion Campus wing in Ogun State, Olatoye Clement mentioned that the antics to victimise the scholars’ activist who was solely expressing his constitutional rights will fail.

Babalola, who was arrested by the Division of State Companies and detained at Ibara Prisons in January 2020, for his anti-Buhari articles in a campus journal, upon receiving the invitation mentioned he can be going to the panel along with his lawyer.

These days, the administration of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism has been underneath the radar for a number of assaults on college students’ rights to freely specific themselves and affiliate.
