Nigeria declares NATFORCE illegal, bans unauthorized security outfits




The federal authorities has declared the Nationwide Taskforce on the Prohibition of Unlawful Importation/Smuggling of Arms, Ammunitions, Gentle Weapons, Chemical Weapons, and Pipeline Vandalism (NATFORCE) unlawful.


The Workplace of the Nationwide Safety Adviser made the announcement in an announcement by Z. M. Usman, Head of Communication.

The NSA additionally ordered the collapse of all unlawful safety outfits in Nigeria.

The federal government expressed anger over their use to extort, harass and intimidate Nigerians.

The official stated the Nationwide Centre for the Management of Small Arms and Gentle Weapons (NCCSALW), beneath the NSA supervision, is the nationwide coordination mechanism for the management and monitoring of arms.

Usman condemned NATFORCE for “mounting unlawful roadblocks, conducting unlawful searches, seizures and recruitment”.

The NSA workplace pressured that the organisation “is an unlawful outfit with none mandate or authority to hold out these capabilities”.
