N35bn arrears: Govt officials yet to obey Buhari’s order – ESREWA Pensioners




Nigeria’s energy sector pensioners have urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene within the N35 billion arrears owed them.


Benjamin Amako, President of Electrical energy Sector Retiree Welfare Affiliation (ESREWA) addressed the media after a Nationwide Government Council (NEC) assembly on Friday in Abuja.

Amako recalled that the President ordered cost of their pensions years in the past however regretted that authorities officers had been but to conform.

“We’ve got not been paid a dime whilst I converse, for causes which can be completely and clearly human making”, NAN quoted him as saying

“Over 5 years for the reason that President’s directive, the related authorities whose accountability it’s to make sure we get the arrears for our dying members, appear to be working contrarily.”

Amako stated the arrears have all the time been a part of the nation’s price range underneath the Nigeria Electrical energy Legal responsibility Administration Firm (NELMCO) price range, transferred to the Pension Transitional Association Directorate (PTAD).

The union appealed to Buhari, Minister of Finance, Chairman, Senate Committee on Energy, Accountant Basic of the Federation, PTAD and others to avoid wasting members’ lives.

Amako demanded fast motion, noting that the financial scenario of the nation was taking a toll on pensioners.
