May Day: Pensioners knock Gov Abiodun over ₦500m quarterly gratuity payment




The Chairman of the Native Authorities Pensioners Affiliation of Nigeria, (LOGPAN) Ogun State department, Chief Sikiru Ayilara has frowned on the insistence of Governor Dapo Abiodun to proceed paying the sum of 5 Hundred million naira (₦500m) on a quarterly foundation in an effort to clear the backlog of excellent gratuity.


Chief Ayilara said that it was inhuman for the governor to insist on spreading the excellent fee throughout thirty-four years (34), lamenting that almost all of the pensioners could not reside to obtain their sweats of thirty-five (35) years.

“We thank our governor for the fee however we don’t recognize it as a result of for those who divide sixty-eight billion naira excellent with 5 hundred million naira each three months, it’ll take thirty-four years and that was when he resumed workplace in 2019.

“By now the cash is greater than that that means that by the point he will probably be leaving workplace, the fee extension will probably be greater than sixty years,” he said.

The Chairman cited examples of Oyo and Borno states governors that have been thoughtful sufficient in paying gratuity with substantial quantities: N7.6bn and N16bn respectively.

“Oyo state paid N7.6billion naira as gratuity. In Borno state, as a lot as Boko Haram is disturbing them, the governor paid N16billion naira. Are we saying the 2 states are richer than Ogun State?

“Consider it: somebody retired at age sixty, his gratuity will not be paid for ten years and the governor now promised to unfold the fee for thirty-four years. Is it not oblique methods of claiming go and take your pension within the grave!
