Man arrested for vandalizing school electricity cables in Jigawa

Operatives of the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has arrested a 20-year-old man, Buhari Iliya, for vandalising college electrical energy cables within the state. 

 

Spokesperson of the corps, CSC Adamu Shehu, who disclosed this in an announcement on Monday, June 20, 2020, mentioned the suspect vandalised and stole 318.6 meters of electrical cables meant to provide electrical energy to Authorities Science Secondary Faculty Kanya Babba. 

 

“One BUHARI ILIYA ‘M’ aged 20 of Giginya Village, Babura LGA, Jigawa State was arrested by the operatives of the Nigeria Safety and Civil Defence Corps, Jigawa State Command on a suspected case of VANDALISATION opposite to Part 1, subsection 9, of the miscellaneous offences act and punishable beneath similar,” the assertion learn.

 

“The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, seventh day of June, 2022 at about 0400hrs when he went to Authorities Science Secondary Faculty Kanya Babba, vandalised and stole 318.6 meters of electrical cables meant to provide electrical energy to the Faculty Administrative Block. Luck ran out of him when the Faculty Watchmen heard uncommon motion from the ceiling which aroused their curiosity and ultimately led to his arrest. 

 

“He confessed to have dedicated similar offence thrice in the identical Faculty. Additional investigation led to the arrest of 1 Nasiru Shuaibu ‘M’ aged 22 of Kirya Village, Babura LGA who used to purchase the stolen items from the suspect.

 

“He equally confessed to have purchased the stolen Electrical cables on the sum of N6,500 opposite to its unique market worth. They each confessed to the crime and will likely be charged to courtroom of competent jurisdiction after detailed investigation is concluded.”
