The Home of Representatives has requested the federal authorities to start the method of securing the discharge of Nigerians illegally detained overseas.
The decision was sequel to a movement moved by Dennis Idahosa (APC, Edo), on Thursday, throughout plenary.
Transferring the movement, Mr Idahosa mentioned a number of Nigerians had been languishing in detention centres the world over with out satisfactory authorized counsel or intervention.
He suggested the federal authorities to determine the variety of Nigerians in international prisons, contemplating the contributions and remittances to the nation by Nigerians within the diaspora.
“Many Nigerians are languishing in international prisons, a few of whom are being illegally detained, whereas some are uncovered to labour exploitation, poor dwelling circumstances, discrimination, sexual exploitation and different types of dehumanizing remedies,” he said.

The Committees on Mandate on Overseas Affairs, Justice and Inter-Parliamentary Relations had been mandated to make sure compliance.
