“We should always not both by phrases or actions pursue a repetition of the 1967 horrible genocide,” said Mr Kalu, admonishing people sponsoring violence within the South-East to cease.

The pogrom, sanctioned by the Nigerian federal authorities, resulted in some three million Igbos massacred.
