Lawmaker condemns Governors’ action on financial autonomy for judiciary, legislature

The Chairman of the Cross River State Home of Meeting Committee on Judiciary, Public Petition, Public Service Issues and Battle Decision, Hon Efa Nyong Esua has condemned the motion of varied State Governors who refused to respect Government Order 10.

The Government Order 10 signed by President Mohammed Buhari authorised the implementation of monetary autonomy to the Judiciary and the Legislature and directed State Governors to respect and implement it however this has not been achieved, therefore the strike motion by judiciary and Home of Meeting staff.

Hon Efa Nyong Esua whereas talking with DAILY POST by way of cellphone condemned the motion of the Governors, describing it as a risk to democracy, “It’s a risk to democracy; the motion of the Governors is a risk to democracy and condemnable.”

He defined that the employees within the State Home of Meeting are on strike over non-granting of autonomy however famous, “it’s a very unhappy growth, it’s a complete disobedience to the structure.

“The governors swore to uphold the structure however due to monetary positive factors, they reneged, they’ve disenchanted us and it was due to the autonomy that the structure was amended to grant that monetary autonomy to state homes of meeting and judiciary.

“The strike affected the Home and we can not have any sitting, no deliberation of any variety, it affected the meeting, and I assist them to carry what is true as a result of with out that, there will probably be no headway.

“I don’t know why the governors are scared. I’m disenchanted and my disappointment is even with those that are loyal to the governors on this and who supported this unlawful act, they’re sycophants.

Hon Esua suggested the governors to obey the structure which they swore to uphold, “Why do they wish to be accountable for all the pieces together with the Home of Meeting and the Judiciary, and these are completely different arms of presidency. And why should they take management.

“They thought that granting monetary autonomy to those folks (Judiciary and Legislature) goes to be a risk to them. It’s not, and my recommendation to them is that they need to obey and respect the structure which they swore to uphold,” he acknowledged.
