Lagos: Striking doctors resume as Sanwo-Olu approves recruitment, accommodation




The Nigerian Affiliation of Resident Docs (NARD) in Lagos are again to work after weeks of strike.

A press release by Lagos Commissioner for Data, Gbenga Omotoso stated Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has met a few of their calls for.

The governor met the union leaders and others at his workplace in Alausa, Ikeja.

Sanwo-Olu stated the medical doctors didn’t want to hitch the nationwide strike in solidarity as a result of the state authorities has been fulfilling its obligations.

Points mentioned included the Head of Service (HOS) elimination of Housemanship and NYSC medical doctors from the Scheme of Service.

The HOS defined that the choice was made on the federal stage and domesticated in states.

The Medical Residency Coaching Act, which makes provision for sponsorship of Resident Docs coaching to be Specialists in Federal or State Medical Colleges, was additionally mentioned.

Omotoso recalled that Sanwo-Olu in April authorized full sponsorship for medical doctors in Lagos.

He directed implementation of the state’s help of each the exams and up to date programs that result in qualification as specialists in varied fields of medication.

“Mr. Governor authorized the recruitment of over 150 new resident medical doctors and medical officers to scale back the human useful resource deficit within the public service.
