Kano assembly elects new Deputy Speaker following resignation of former Deputy Speaker



Lawmaker representing ?iru constituency, Kabiru Hassan Dashi was on Monday June 20 elected as the brand new Deputy Speaker of Kano state home of meeting. 


That is coming after former Deputy Speaker of the Home, Zubairu Hamza Massu resigned after defecting to the New Nigerian Peoples Celebration.


Speaker of the Home, Engr. Hamisu Ibrahim Chidari, after studying the letter throughout Monday’s plenary session, declared the Deputy Speaker’s seat vacant.


After studying the letter, a member representing Dawakin Tofa, Hon. Sale Marke, nominated Dashi and was seconded by the member representing Wudil Hon. Nuhu Abdullahi Achika.


Dashi, who was the previous Deputy Chief Whip, Deputy Majority Chief, and Majority Chief of the Home, subsequently agreed to turn out to be the Deputy Speaker, shortly after his nomination by the 28 members of the Home.


He thereafter took oath to the workplace of the Deputy Speaker, which was administered by the Director, Authorized of the Home, Barrister Nasidi Aliyu.
