How Edo Police Officers Led Traveller Inside Bush, Extorted N100,000 From Him




A younger man (title withheld) has lamented how policemen extorted N100,000 from him whereas he was travelling to Onitsha, Anambra State, from Benin, Edo State.

He defined that he was stopped in a business bus alongside Benin/Asaba Expressway by a crew of policemen led by one Harmless Osarobo.

The younger man stated he was handled like a prison and compelled to switch cash from his Zenith Checking account to Osarobo’s FCMB account quantity: 6112081011.

“I used to be going to the village to see my mum from Benin to Onisha, some policemen stopped the bus I boarded and informed everybody to return down.

“They took me contained in the bush and forcefully extorted cash from them. I used to be having N115,000 as stability they usually collected N100,000 from me.

“After the cost, he (Osarobo) deleted the debit sms alert from my telephone and launched me after 5 hours,” he stated.

In the meantime, the Behind Bars Human Rights Basis has filed a petition on the incident on the Grievance Response Unit (CRU) of the Nigeria Police Drive.
