Hours After The Appointment The issue of submitting a retirement letter is a norm in the Military as high-ranking officers are needed to pay respect to their appointed seniors if eventually, they stay. Although not all high-ranking officers do retire after a junior or coursemate is given a higher appointment in the military, as those who wish to stay with the appointed senior may, but will need to still pay compliments to the individual.
Not fewer than 45 senior officers from the Nigerian Army, Navy, and Air Force have put in their retirement letters from Service hours after the appointment of the new service chiefs. The letter which was addressed to the former Service Chiefs and this retirement letter may be as a result of their juniors and course mates who were appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as Service Chiefs.
The group of the senior Military officers that submitted their retirement letters is the members of Regular Course 33-35 from the Nigerian Defense Academy (NDA) with ranks of Major-Generals and Brigadier-Generals.
The list of those who submitted their letters is 25 officers in the Army, 13 from the Navy, and less than 10 officers from the Air Force.
Do you think that if everyone is working for the growth of the Nation, a high-ranking officer supposes to retire because his junior or coursemate is given a senior military appointment? Is it all about the pocket or the security issues in the country, at least everyone of a set can not be promoted at the same time since there are only four vacancies?
