Gunmen invade church in Akwa Ibom and kidnap priest

A Catholic Priest recognized as Father Alphonsus Uboh has been kidnapped by gunmen who invaded his church.

 

Father Uboh who is the Parish Priest of X Parish situated at Ikot Abasi Akpan alongside Ekparakwa-Etinan street in Mkpat Enin Native Authorities Space in Akwa Ibom State, was kidnapped shortly after the gunmen stormed his church round 7pm on Sunday night time, Might 8, in a motorbike convoy. 

 

Eyewitnesses instructed Every day Belief they compelled their manner into the church premises and whisked the priest away on their bike after taking pictures into the air to scare away the individuals.

 

Confirming the kidnap of the priest, Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odiko Mcdon, stated they have been working to sort out the actions of gunmen within the space.

 

He stated; 

 

“We’ve acquired the report from that space and we’re engaged on it.”  

 

It was additionally learnt that the gunmen had been laying siege to some communities in Oruk Anam and Mkpat Enin native authorities areas of the state, abducting 19 individuals in six months.

 

Residents of the areas and different adjoining villages are reportedly robbed day by day whereas store house owners, civil servants and native businessmen have been being kidnapped for ransom.
