Popular Nigerian actress, Funke Akindele-Bello has opened up on how one of her friends, Bimbo Thomas saved her during an armed robbery attack.
While the ‘Jenifa’s diary’ star actress narrated how her colleague and long-time friend, Bimbo Thomas, risked her life to save her from being attacked by armed robbers at a hotel in Lagos State nine years ago, Funke also touched on the attributes of her other friends like Kate Henshaw, Eniola Badmus and Chioma Akpotha.
The actress who came to the limelight via the 80’s television series titled “I Need To Know”, speaks about her friends, noting their unequivocal attributes.
Chioma Akpotha And Kate Henshaw
Talking about Kate Henshaw and Chioma Akpotha, Funke noted that, the duo would take upon themselves, another person’s fight as if it is theirs. In the words of Funke, “As for Chioma Akpotha, she and Kate Henshaw would fight for you all the way. Your problem becomes theirs.”
Bimbo Thomas
The mother of two also speaks about Bimbo Thomas’s selfless attributes. According to Funke, Bimbo risked her life to save her when attacked by robbers in a hotel almost a decade ago.
Funke noted that Bimbo Thomas puts her life on the line to save. She narrated the horrible incident which occurred nine years ago while filming the “Omo Ghetto” sequel.
Going down memory lane during an Instagram Live session, the “Chief Daddy” star actress said, “I have been friends with Bimbo and Eniola Badmus for a long time. Nine years ago, we were robbed while filming the second part of ‘Omo Ghetto’’.
Funke speaks further on how Eniola refused to stay with her, but for Bimbo Thomas and Joy Aiyegbeni who was with her prior to, and during the robbery attack.

In her words, “Eniola was meant to join me in my hotel but she refused. So, I was with Bimbo that night after begging her that I could not sleep alone.”
The Omo Ghetto producer also narrated the role played by Bimbo to save her life during the robbery attack, she said, “The robbers came into the hotel, forced my room door opened, but Bimbo had lifted the bed so I could hide under it.”
Wanting to know why Bimbo had risked her own life for her, Mrs. Akindele-Bello asked her friend (Bimbo) the reason for such a risky decision, she said, “Two days after the robbery, I asked her (Bimbo) why she didn’t let the robbers know I was hiding in the bathroom?” Responding to Funke’s inquiry, Bimbo said ‘’If they (robbers) want to kill, it is better we die together.”
