Former Ekiti Sole Administrator, Olurin is dead




A former Sole Administrator in Ekiti State, Gen. Tunji Olurin (rtd), has died.

Olurin reportedly died on Saturday morning at a Lagos hospital. He was aged 76.

A household supply confirmed his demise to our correspondent.

DAILY POST experiences that the deceased, an indigene of Ilaro, Ogun State, was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Social gathering (PDP) in 2011.

His governorship ambition marked the start of the disaster that tore aside the PDP in Ogun.

With the assist of former President Olusegun, Olurin contested the PDP ticket with Gboyega Isiaka, who was closely backed by the then Governor of Ogun, Gbenga Daniel.

It could possibly be recalled that Olurin succeeded in clinching the PDP governorship as Isiaka defected to a brand new celebration, Individuals’s Social gathering of Nigeria (PPN).

Each Olurin and Isiaka misplaced the 2011 election to Sen. Ibikunle Amosun of the defunct Motion Congress of Nigeria.

On October 19, 2006, Olurin was appointed by Obasanjo because the Sole Administrator of Ekiti, to interchange former Governor Ayo Fayose, who was eliminated over alleged gross misconduct.

He vacated the place on April 27, 2007 and was changed by Adetope Ademiluyi.

After dropping the 2011 governorship election in Ogun, Olurin took a break from political actions till his demise.
