Flood: Buni charges traditional rulers to enlighten subjects on dangers of waterways blockage [Photos]




Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has charged conventional rulers within the state to enlighten their communities on the necessity to preserve the waterways free from blockage.

Buni, in an announcement signed by his spokesman, Mamman Mohammed, on Wednesday visited the emirs of Damaturu, Fika and Potiskum to sympathise with them over the current floods recorded in some communities within the emirates.

He assured the monarchs that the federal government would work in the direction of offering everlasting options to the floods of their communities.

“Authorities will take into account constructing large water methods, drainages and channels to divert the stream of the rain water from residential buildings”, he stated.

The governor, nonetheless, famous that among the floods have been preventable as soon as constructions have been constructed on water methods, whereas charging the royal fathers to enlighten their communities on the necessity to preserve the waterways free from blockage.

Governor Buni assured that, “the federal government will assist victims of the floods to cushion their hardships”.

The Emir of Damaturu, Alh Baba Shehu Hashimi Ibn El-kanemi; Alh. Muhammadu Abbali ibn Muhammadu Idrisa, Emir of Fika; and Alh. Umaru Bubaram Ibn Wuriwa Bauya, Emir of Potiskum, of their separate remarks, counseled the state authorities for the short response in supporting victims of flood of their respective Emirate councils.

They counseled the State Emergency Administration Company for offering emergency aid supplies to the victims in good time, informing the governor that SEMA had acted on his directive promptly, reaching out to the flood victims.
