Family debunks abducted senator’s rumoured release, death



The household of Mr Nelson Effiong, a senator who represented Eket Senatorial District, Akwa Ibom State, on the eighth Meeting, has debunked rumours making the rounds concerning the former lawmaker.

It may very well be recalled that the ex-Senator was kidnapped at his lounge alongside Oron Street, Uyo, the state capital on Sunday, September 5, 2021, about seven weeks in the past.

Thereafter, there have been agitations for his launch even because the Commissioner of Police, CP Andrew Amiengheme, reassured of dedication for his protected return and the apprehension of culprits.

Stories on social media nonetheless declare he had been launched whereas one other claimed he died in captivity.


Nonetheless, Senator Effiong’s household when contacted dismissed the studies describing them as ‘fictitious.’

The youthful brother, Prince Effiong who spoke on behalf of the household stated, “I’ve heard the hearsay that he has been killed. He’s alive. He has not been killed.
