District Head In Buhari’s Home State Suspended For Sponsoring Banditry, Kidnapping




The district head of Kankara, Yusuf Lawal, has been suspended by the Katsina Emirate Council for allegedly sponsoring the actions of bandits within the area.


The suspension adopted widespread insecurity in Kankara, Katsina State, which can be President Muhammadu Buhari’s residence state.

In an announcement on Sunday, Katsina Emirate’s secretary, Iro Bindawa stated Lawal’s speedy suspension adopted residents’ complaints of his villainous actions.

The secretary added that the destiny of the district head can be determined after investigation has been concluded. 

It’s not clear whether or not or not Lawal has been handed over to the police, in keeping with Peoples Gazette. 

Katsina and different northern states have remained a hotspot for kidnapping and banditry in Nigeria.

In December 2020, armed males suspected to be bandits invaded the Authorities Science Secondary College within the Kankara Native Authorities Space of the state, killing a safety guard and kidnapping over 300 college students. 

The scholars had been freed after negotiations with the Nigerian authorities that reportedly included a major ransom.

Jihadist group Boko Haram, whereas claiming accountability for the kidnapping, stated the assault was carried out to rein in un-Islamic practices within the faculty, particularly Western schooling.

Amidst the worry of bandits attacking faculties, Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, in March, ordered all boarding faculties shut.

Masari’s administration additionally introduced plans to deploy safety canine to guard schoolchildren in state-owned boarding faculties.
