Customs officers, not unknown gunmen killed our people in Igangan – Oyo govt confirms

The Oyo State Authorities has stated males of the Nigeria Customs Service raided Igangan and different components of Ibarapa areas of the state on Friday evening, and never unknown gunmen as extensively reported.

Mr Taiwo Adisa, the Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Seyi Makinde made the clarifications in a press release on Saturday in Ibadan.

Adisa stated that the revelation was made recognized by Ibarapa group leaders throughout a fact-finding assembly between a group of the state authorities and political/conventional leaders of the affected communities on Saturday.

DAILY POST had reported that some gunmen invaded Igangan in Ibarapa North native authorities and Ibarapa Central native authorities areas.

It was learnt that the gunmen who wearing Customs uniform stormed the city round 8.pm and left after taking pictures sporadically.

Three individuals had been allegedly killed whereas the taking pictures lasted.

However Adisa stated, “The political and conventional leaders of Ibarapa extraction on the assembly, described the Friday raid on Igangan, Igbo-Ora and different communities within the space by males of the NCS as pointless and never well-thought-out.

“They known as on the management of Customs Service to control operations of its personnel.

“It will likely be higher if the authorities prohibit them to frame cities to finish unwarranted assaults on harmless communities,” Adisa stated.

The governor’s media aide stated that Odukoya, who led the state authorities group to the assembly, had known as for vigilance and calm among the many individuals.

He stated that police within the areas had confirmed the dying of 1 Amotekun operative and two different individuals, following the stated raid.

The group accompanied by the standard rulers and group leaders visited the scenes of the incident at Igangan, Ayete, Tapa, and Igbo-Ora.

The leaders, included the Olu of Igbo-Ora, Oba Jimoh Titiloye and the Chairman of Ibarapa North Native Authorities, Mr Adeoye Adedoyin.
