Customs intercept 99 smuggled parrots in Kano

Kano/Jigawa command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 99 parrots which had been being trafficked.
Talking whereas handing over the birds to the Nationwide Environmental Requirements and Rules Enforcement Company (NESREA), the command’s controller, Muhammad A. Umar mentioned the act of smuggling the birds was in opposition to the settlement of the Conference on Worldwide Commerce in Endangered species of untamed fauna and flora through which Nigeria is a signatory.
Umar disclosed that no offender was arrested as these believed to be smuggling the reside birds fled and deserted the birds in 4 crates on the sight of customs officers at one of many Kano borders.
The State Director of NESREA, Lukman Lawan referred to as on members of the general public to offer data which may result in the arrest of smugglers.
He added;
