The Central Financial institution of Nigeria (CBN) has declared that there was no time the financial institution banned the actions of Cryptocurrencies within the nation.

This declaration was made by the governor of the apex financial institution, Godwin Emefiele in Abuja on the thirtieth seminar for Finance Correspondents and Enterprise Editors organised by the financial institution.

Representing the apex financial institution governor, the deputy governor, Corporates Companies, Adamu Lamtek stated what the financial institution did was to guard the banking sector from the actions of Cryptocurrencies and never a ban on its actions.

“The CBN didn’t place restrictions from use of Cryptocurrencies and we aren’t discouraging individuals from buying and selling in it. What we’ve got simply performed was to ban transactions on Cryptocurrencies within the banking sector.”

In different information, Gistlover reported that Governor of the Central Financial institution of Nigeria (CNB), Godwin Emefiele on Tuesday appeared earlier than the Senate to defend the ban on cryptocurrency buying and selling within the nation.

The Senate invited Emefiele to transient its committees on the alternatives and threats of cryptocurrency on the nation’s financial system.

CBN’s director of banking supervision Bello Hassan in a round stated cryptocurrencies are “issued by unknown and unregulated entities”.
