Buhari approves N2.5bn take-off grant for Senior Citizens




President Muhammadu Buhari has authorised N2.5 billion as a take-off grant for the Nationwide Senior Residents Centre (NSCC).

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Catastrophe Administration, Sadiya Farouq, made this recognized on Thursday at a one-day Southern Zone Stakeholders Session on the Growth of NSCC Strategic Plan in Lagos, NAN stories.

Recall that the NSCC Act 2018 was signed by Buhari to permit the institution of the centre by establishments and the three tiers of presidency to cater for the wants of senior residents.

Farouq, who was represented by Mr Mansur Kuliya, the ministry’s appearing Director, Social Companies, stated that the grant was presently being processed for disbursement to the centre.

She famous the grant could be used to determine the strategic priorities, processes and approaches that would offer an impetus for the centre to attain its mandate of integrating senior residents.

The minister stated that the centre was collaborating with related stakeholders to brainstorm and produce concepts for the event of a ten years strategic plan.

She added that “this session signifies the dedication of the ministry, board and administration of the centre to make sure full implementation of Mr President’s agenda towards the institution of the centre.

“The ministry and the centre will be certain that the nation advantages from the knowledge and wealth of experiences of the senior residents.’’
