Benue IDP: We are in serious humanitarian crisis – Gov Ortom cries out




Following the growing variety of Internally Displaced Individuals, birthed by assaults on Benue Communities by suspected Fulani herdsmen, Governor, Samuel Ortom has stated the state is in a humanitarian disaster.


The governor who said this on Saturday in his speech to mark the 2021 Democracy Day, stated the state has been managing the state of affairs.

DAILY POST remembers that stories emerged just a few days in the past on the extent of hardship in main IDP camps within the state, declaring that the displaced individuals had been sick, malnourished and lots of had no meals.

Talking on the problem, Governor Ortom burdened that the state is overwhelmed by the challenges saying the Federal Authorities didn’t redeem its pledges.

The Governor stated “the problem is overwhelming. Nevertheless, we now have been managing. And we are going to proceed to name on spirited people and different our bodies to return to the assistance of IDPs.

“We’re actually in a humanitarian disaster. The promise the federal authorities made has not been redeemed.

“The assistance is extra in different components of the nation than Benue. We name on our individuals right here, it doesn’t matter what you may have even when little, assist these IDPs.”
