The de facto customary authorities of Biafra led by Mujahid Asari Dokubo says the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State will maintain as scheduled by the Impartial Nationwide Electoral Fee (INEC).
The Head of Info and Communication, Uche Okafor-Mefor, disclosed this in a press release urging the Indigenous Individuals of Biafra (IPOB) to not deny the individuals of the state from voting.
IPOB had declared a one week sit-at-home protest throughout the South-East states ranging from November 5, the eve of Anambra governorship election.
The group stated the protest was aimed toward prevailing on the Nigerian authorities to launch Nnamdi Kanu.
It vowed that the protest would go on as deliberate if Kanu was not launched earlier than November 4.
Kanu is going through trial on a seven-count amended cost bordering on treason and terrorism.
The Nigerian authorities had blamed the IPOB chief for the homicide of Dr. Chike Akunyili, the husband of a former Director-Common of the Nationwide Company for Meals and Drug Administration and Management, late Prof. Dora Akunyili.
A Presidential committee arrange by the President had additionally accused Kanu of being accountable for the homicide of a former presidential aide, Ahmad Gulak, and over 184 others within the South-East.
Reacting, the De facto Biafra Customary Authorities spokesperson stated the sit-at-home order was ‘prison’.
He stated, “The federal government of Biafra hereby declares as follows; the hydra-headed authorities believes completely within the sanctity of human life – the safety of lives within the Biafran territory – and subsequently condemns in no unsure phrases the continued wanton destruction of lives and properties in Biafraland by each state and non-state actors no matter their motives.
“That the De Facto Customary Authorities of Biafra extols the democratic ethos for which Biafrans are recognized and as such declares assist for the individuals of Biafra to train their democratic rights to vote and be voted for in Biafraland within the present and future elections.
“That in keeping with this pronouncement, the De Facto Customary Authorities of Biafra affirms that elections in Anambra State and elsewhere in Biafraland should maintain by the extant legal guidelines; that any boycott of the Anambra elections and others elsewhere stays fruitless, counterproductive and could be incapable of invalidating the electoral course of as a result of a winner should emerge finally by the circumstances strongly urged to exit and vote for the popular candidates of their selections.
“That the continued violent marketing campaign for the boycott of elections and different ancillary unethical conducts that are inimical to the development of the Biafran trigger are subsequently frowned at and as such should be discouraged forthwith.
