Pastor Tunde Bakare, the founding father of Citadel World Group Church (previously referred to as Latter Rain Meeting), has stated he would contest for the presidency within the 2023 ballot, if God and Nigerians ask him to.
The cleric acknowledged this after assembly with President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock on Friday.
Bakare was Buhari’s working mate within the 2011 common election on the platform of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC).
When requested whether or not he would contest the 2023 presidential election, Bakare informed State Home correspondents that he would, provided that God and Nigerians need him to.
He added, “I’m a nation builder. If God needs me to try this, and the folks of Nigeria will respect that, why not?
“I’m as free as anyone to do something. I’ve pastored a church for 33 years, now we increase new leaders. I need to deal with nation-building.
“I’ve already communicated clearly, my future plans to Mr. President, and it stays between us.”
